Aftercare products for a septum piercing
As a basis, it is fine to occasionally clean the septum piercing in the shower, and otherwise leave it alone. This works well, especially for the first few days. Over time, it can be nice to also care for your septum piercing with a ready-made saline solution for piercings, a homemade warm saline solution or additionally use a disinfectant aftercare.
A saline spray is very nice when healing your septum piercing, because this saline solution not only gently cleanses, but also helps keep your nasal passages clean. Blowing your nose can be sensitive at first. By additionally using a saline spray, you keep your nasal passages hydrated and you also rinse away other impurities around your piercing. After using the saline solution, rinse with clean water, and your piercing is well cared for! You can then wipe the edges of your piercing and the septum jewelry itself with a sterile gauze.
You can also make a warm saline solution yourself with which you can clean your septum piercing and the jewelry. You can apply the saline solution with a gauze, or - if you are very brave - hang the tip of your nose in a bowl of saline solution. Here too, rinse with clean water and carefully pat your piercing and jewelry dry with a clean gauze.
Is your piercing a bit irritated or are you more susceptible to infections? Then you can use a disinfectant spray (temporarily). When your irritation has disappeared again, you can switch to cleaning with saline solution only or rinsing with warm water.
