Nature's Finest: Wooden Plugs, Tunnels and Hangers
Wood is wonderful to work with. There are countless types of wood available, each with their own characteristic appearance. The colours can vary from pale white to deep pink, bright orange, various shades of brown or pitch black. There are types of wood with a very subtle, barely visible grain and there are types of wood with a strongly contrasting, flaming grain. Something for everyone, so to speak! Wood lends itself perfectly to a beautiful set of tunnels or plugs, but beautiful spirals or other hangers can also be made from wood. And in some cases, wood can also be worked into a beautifully detailed piece of wood carving, which makes your piercing jewellery even more special.

Great for your ears in the winter cold!

When it's cold, you feel it first in your fingers, toes and: earlobes. Logical, because in order to conserve heat, your body will first constrict the blood vessels in those places, which means that these body parts will feel cold more quickly. You can wrap your hands and feet up nice and warm, but what do you do with your stretched earlobes? If you still have fairly small stretched piercings, you can usually fit them under a warm hat or a set of earmuffs. Problem solved. But if you have larger stretched earlobes, it often becomes more difficult. With a bit of creativity, you can still stuff your earlobes under a tie. But if that doesn't work either, it is best to opt for piercing jewelry made of a natural material. Wood is an excellent choice for this, because wood is light and insulates well. This way, your earlobes will definitely not freeze off your head. Wooden plugs and tunnels are therefore the perfect choice to wear during the winter cold. Give your ears some extra love with a caring balm or oil, our Earwax Stretch Balm and Jojoba Oil are perfect for this.

Down to business: how do you care for wooden plugs, tunnels and hangers?

Caring for your wooden jewelry is quite easy. The most important thing is that you have to make sure that your wooden piercing jewelry does not get wet. To keep your wooden piercing jewelry clean, you certainly do not need water and soap, but a little oil/balm and a dry cloth.

How do you clean wooden plugs, tunnels and hangers? Super simple! Put a little oil or balm on a clean cloth. Rub the support surface and the back of the plugs or tunnels and rub the entire jewelry well with a dry cloth. That's it! Fresh and fruity plugs and tunnels that stay beautiful for a long time.

Which oil or balm can I use to clean my wooden jewelry? A pure, vegetable oil or balm works best. Jojoba oil is ideal for this, as is Earwax Stretch Balm or Piercing Deodorant.

So really no water and soap? No, absolutely do not let your wooden jewelry get wet. Do not go swimming or showering with your plugs or tunnels and keep them away from damp areas. The moisture can cause the wood to expand slightly, making it feel less smooth. Or worse, the wood can dry out (yes, seriously) and eventually split. Keep 'em dry, so.

And last but not least: wood is a natural material and each piece has its own character. As a result, wooden jewelry is never exactly the same. Wood will often also darken slightly over time, especially if you regularly use oil or something similar to maintain them. But these are not disadvantages at all, because it ensures that each set of wooden plugs or tunnels remains completely unique and special. Enjoy!
