What is a Christina Piercing?
Piercings around the vulva have been incredibly popular piercings for years. That's not surprising, because they offer you the best of both worlds: the elegance of a beautiful piercing, but still not visible to everyone. The Christina piercing is a special piercing because of the placement. In our blog post we tell you everything about the placement, healing and suitable jewelry for the Christina Piercing.

The placement of a Christina Piercing
A Christina Piercing is a piercing that is placed through the skin of your pubic mound. Your pubic mound is the area at the bottom of your abdomen and ends where your labia begin. The pubic mound has a layer of fat underneath it, which often gives it a somewhat hilly shape.

The Christina Piercing is placed exactly through this layer of skin and fat. The lower ball then rests just above the beginning of your labia, the upper ball then rests more on the pubic bone and is often more visible. The Christina Piercing is also called the Venus Piercing or Princess Christina Piercing.

Because the Christina Piercing is done through only skin and fat, this piercing is called a surface piercing. The piercing does not pierce your skin or other tissue from top to bottom, but the jewelry runs under the skin surface. This means that healing requires a little more attention, and there is a greater risk of your piercing growing out or moving. It is important that your Christina piercing is subjected to as little (wrong) pressure as possible, for example from your clothing or underwear. This prevents your Christina piercings from becoming inflamed and reduces the chance of growing out.

Healing your Christina Piercing
It takes about 6 to 9 months for your Christina Piercing to heal, sometimes longer. Before you get pierced, it is useful to depilate your mons pubis. This allows your piercing to heal as quietly as possible after it has been pierced.

You can use saline solution or piercing soap to care for your Christina Piercing. The Easypiercing saline solution (the blue bottle) or the mild cleaning gel (the green bottle) are perfectly suitable for this. You can also make your own saline solution. Take care of your piercings in the shower, that will save you a lot of mess!

If you still suffer from an inflamed Christina Piercing or have any questions about the healing, it is best to contact your piercer.
