Directions Hair Dye, what exactly is it?
La RIche Directions hair dye is a highly pigmented, semi-permanent hair dye. Quite a mouthful, but in short it comes down to the fact that it is a cream that is packed with colour pigments. You do not use any developer (peroxide) for this hair dye, but use it straight from the jar. Let it work for a while, rinse it out and you are ready to style your hair! Directions hair dye is not tested on animals.
Semi-permanent?
Semi, indeed. In most cases, Directions Hair Dye will gradually fade. But sometimes this can take quite some time and sometimes a light colour haze remains that you can hardly get out. This can differ per colour. It comes down to the fact that the colour pigments are fixed in your hair shaft and give your hair that spectacular colour. Healthy, unbleached hair has closed hair cuticles. It is therefore logical that the colour remains more on the hair shaft than in it. The result is often quite subtle and often washes out quickly. But if your hair has previously been dyed with a peroxide dye or if your hair has been bleached (for example with a Hair Lightening Kit from Directions), the hair cuticles are usually somewhat open. The colour pigments then penetrate deep into the hair shaft and therefore remain in place for a little longer. However, if your hair remains porous, the colour will fade somewhat faster, so take good care of your hair after colouring with Directions, so that your hair colour will also remain beautiful for longer.
How do you use Directions Hair Dye?
Simple! First wash your hair with a mild shampoo. Then apply your favourite Directions Hair Colour to your hair. Then comb it through until the hair dye forms a lighter emulsion. It looks a bit like foam. This is the moment when you can let the hair dye soak in! At least 30 minutes is usually enough for an intensive result. Then rinse the Directions hair dye until the rinse water is completely clear and style your hair as usual.
Are you afraid that you will give the rest of your body and bathroom a cool color in addition to your hair? Don't worry! Although Directions hair dye is quite easy to remove from your skin, we have listed a few tips below for a smooth dye job:
Grease the skin along your hairline with some jojoba oil, Vaseline or greasy cream
Don't feel like having colored hands or nails? Use gloves
Apply Directions with a hair dye brush
Remove stray hair dye residue immediately with a little water and some soap
I want a pastel shade in my hair! How light should the base color be?
The lighter your base color, the brighter the end result will be. This applies to all Directions hair colors. Do you want a beautiful pastel shade in your hair? Then keep in mind that your hair really needs to be super light, towards platinum blonde. The slightly darker colours can also work well on hair that is not completely white, but keep in mind that the final colour result also depends on the base colour you have. If there are a lot of yellow or orange tones in your hair, a lighter blue or green colour can turn out slightly differently. Fortunately, all Directions Hair Dye can be mixed with each other, so that you can ultimately create your ideal hair colour!
How do I keep my Directions hair colour beautiful for longer?
How long your colour ultimately lasts can depend on various factors. If you wash your hair more often, the colour will also fade a little faster. Hair that is very porous will also release the colour faster. The type of shampoo and the amount of styling products you use can also have an effect. But what can you do? Below we list our personal, favorite tips:
Use a good shampoo before coloring so that your hair is optimally clean and conditioner and styling residues are well removed
Use a special shampoo and conditioner for your bright hair color after coloring.
Mix a little Directions hair dye with a portion of conditioner and let it soak in for a quick color touch-up
Let your hair dye soak in for a long time, covered under a plastic cap, shower cap or layer of cling film
