How to care for organic and wooden plugs and tunnels
Yay, new wooden plugs! Or tunnels. Or hangers. Either way, wood is super comfortable to wear, so we understand why you chose it. And to keep your new purchases looking beautiful for a very long time, we will give you tips and information about the care of wooden piercing jewelry below.

Wood is a fantastic material for piercing jewelry. It is available in many different types and colors, so there is a plug or tunnel for every occasion. The beautiful qualities of wood also come to the fore very well when it is engraved or cut into beautiful shapes. After a good polishing, the details, color and wood grain become even clearer and you are guaranteed a set of unique piercing jewelry.

About the material

Wood is a natural material. Wooden plugs and tunnels are lightweight and therefore very comfortable to wear, in all weather conditions. Wood is also a porous material, which you generally don't notice much because our jewelry is polished super smooth. But with wooden piercing jewelry, the surface is always less smooth than piercing jewelry made of glass or metal, so it is better not to wear wooden piercing jewelry in a recently stretched piercing. Once your stretched piercing has gotten used to the new size and has become nice and loose, you can of course wear a beautiful wooden plug, tunnel or pendant.

Down to business: how do you care for wooden plugs, tunnels and pendants?

Caring for your wooden jewelry is quite easy. The most important thing is that you have to make sure that your wooden piercing jewelry does not get wet. As crazy as it may sound, water will eventually dry out your wooden plugs and tunnels and even make them brittle. The wood will look dull and weathered, which is of course a shame. To keep your jewelry clean, you don't need water and soap, but a little oil and a dry cloth. How to clean wooden plugs, tunnels and pendants? Super easy! Put a little bit of jojoba oil or Holey Butt'r on a clean cloth. Rub the support surface and the back of the plugs or tunnels with a little bit of oil or Butt'r and rub the entire piece of jewelry well with a dry cloth. That's it! Fresh and fruity plugs and tunnels that stay beautiful for a long time.

Which oil can I use to clean my wooden jewelry? A pure, vegetable oil or balm works best. Preferably an oil that does not go rancid. Jojoba is ideal for this, as is Earwax or Piercing Deo.

So really don't use water and soap? No, absolutely do not let your wooden jewelry get wet. Do not go swimming or showering with your plugs or tunnels and keep them away from damp areas. The moisture can cause the wood to expand slightly, making it feel less smooth. Or worse, the wood can dry out (yes, seriously) and eventually split. Keep 'm dry, then.

And last but not least: wood is a natural material and each piece has its own character. This means that wooden jewelry is never exactly the same. Wood will often darken over time, especially if you regularly use oil or something similar to maintain them. But these are not disadvantages at all, because it ensures that each set of wooden plugs or tunnels remains completely unique and special. Enjoy!
