What is a piercing retainer?
Do you have a hospital stay planned or are your piercings temporarily out of sight? Then you can opt for a piercing retainer. What exactly is a piercing retainer, and how do you put in piercing retainers? Read all about it in this blog post!

Why wear a piercing retainer?
No matter how beautiful your piercings are, sometimes it can still happen that you are temporarily unable to wear jewelry. For example, because of your work, where piercings are not allowed to be visible. Or perhaps you have a hospital stay planned where metal piercing jewelry will have to be removed. It is often the case that your piercing can only be out of sight for a short time, but it would be a shame if your piercing were to close up because of this. A piercing retainer can then offer a solution!

Remove a piercing without it closing up?
Piercing Retainers are special piercing jewelry that you can use to make your piercing less visible or to keep the piercing hole open when you are temporarily unable to wear standard piercing jewelry. This way you can take off your piercing jewelry, put in the piercing retainer and still keep your piercing hole open. Most piercing retainers are really only meant to be worn temporarily, because of their shape or because they stay closed less firmly than a piercing jewelry made of titanium or surgical steel.

What kind of piercing retainers are there?
There are various types of piercing retainers. The most common retainers look like the standard piercing rods, but are made of less noticeable material, for example transparent Bioplast. With these piercing retainer rods you can make almost all types of piercings less visible temporarily.

There are also special septum retainers that you can use to make your septum piercing invisible. These septum piercing retainers can be made of glass, Bioplast or a type of metal.

In addition, new piercing retainers regularly appear, such as special retainers made of silicone or hider plugs, to make your stretched piercings less visible. Check our range of piercing retainers on our site for our collection of retainers!
