When it's cold, you'll feel it first in your fingers, toes and: earlobes. Logical, because in order to conserve heat, your body will first constrict the blood vessels in those places, which will make these body parts feel cold more quickly. You can wrap up your hands and feet nice and warm, but what should you do with your stretched earlobes?
Size matters
If you still have fairly small stretched piercings, you can usually still fit them under a warm hat or a set of earmuffs. Problem solved! But if you have larger stretched earlobes, it often becomes more difficult. With a bit of creativity, you can still get your earlobes stuffed under a tie. Some people opt for the inventive creation 'Plug Mittens'. But whatever heating option you choose, make sure you wear the right material so that your stretched earlobes can survive without the extra measures for a while.
Which materials are best?
Go organic! Organic piercing jewelry is ideal when the weather gets a lot colder, especially wooden plugs and tunnels. Wood conducts the cold poorly, which means that the minimal heat that your earlobe still has is retained somewhat better. In addition, piercing jewelry made of horn is also a good choice. In any case, with a set of organic plugs or tunnels you are at least well on the way.
Be kind to your piercings! The right care
Bad weather dries out your skin. Not only your face and hands, but of course also the skin around your piercings. Good, greasy piercing care is therefore certainly not an unnecessary luxury. The team at All Over Piercings is of course also provided with stretched earlobes, and our personal care favorites in inclement weather are definitely Earwax and Jojoba Oil. Earwax is an ideal, easy-to-spread piercing balm that you can apply to your stretched earlobes. It is guaranteed to keep your skin soft and supple. In addition, Jojoba is an all-rounder anyway, because you can also use Jojoba to care for your dry facial skin. And your hands. And your hair... Massage your skin every day with a little jojoba oil and you are completely ready for the changeable, typically Dutch weather!
The Wood & Cold checklist:
Keep it greasy! Care for your stretched piercings with Earwax or Jojoba
Massage your earlobes regularly to stimulate blood circulation
Wear organics, preferably wooden piercing jewelry
Wrap them up! Tuck your earlobes under a warm hat, tie or set of ear warmers, as long as they still fit
Have a happy winter!
